Our Background
For the last 21 months we have been actively supporting the refugee community in Europe. Firstly as volunteers with Calais Action, and subsequently as co-founders of a humble grassroots group called Boots, Backpacks & Baby Carriers – Aid for Refugees in Chios. Our group was formed in response to our first experience on this small island in the Aegean in February 2016.
Over time, we have seen firsthand the damaging effects of a cruel system that is being inflicted on those fleeing war and persecution.
We have been strong advocates for greater transparency within the formal system and committed supporters of grassroots organisations who are filling gaps and bringing aid and assistance as best they can.
Our Motivation
Our own personal experiences have taught us the importance of having good friends around during difficult times. With your help we hope to be those friends, to refugees and to long terms volunteers who stand alongside them.
